Bass Club holds fifth tournament

The Unicoi County Bass Club held its fifth tournament of the 2013 season on May 4, on Watauga Lake. Twenty anglers competed in the event.

The top three places were as follows: first place – Larry Hatcher and Bill Hardin, five fish, 21 pounds-1 ounce; second place – Frank Ray and Michael Osborne, five fish, 19 pounds-8 ounces; and, third place – Andy and John Burnett, five fish, 18 pounds-13 ounces.

Lady Devil camp set to begin June 3

Lady Devil Basketball Camp will be held June 3-7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The camp is open to any girl between the ages of 5-14. The cost is $50 per camper.

The camp will be held at Unicoi County High School and special features of the camp will include camp T-shirts; 9-foot and 10-foot goals for young players; and trophies for each age group.

Campers may bring lunch or purchase items from the concession stand. Pizza will be available for $1 per slice, and other concessions will also be available. More...

Devils announce summer camp dates

The Unicoi County High School football program will host its kids camp June 3-7.

The camp is scheduled to be held each day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Gentry Stadium. Children ages 5-13 years old and invited to attend.

Price for the camp is currently set at $40 and registration will begin on June 3 at 8 a.m. More...

Walk-off home run lifts Lady Devils over Union

One swing of Brooke Strother’s bat gave her team an instant reservation to Murfreesboro.

Strother hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Unicoi County High School Lady Devil softball team a 6-5 win during the Class AA Sectional game against Union County on Thursday, May 16, at Lady Devil Diamond.

Unicoi County (35-5) will be heading back to the state tournament for the fifth time in a six-year span.  More...
