Mr. and Mrs. Peter Buchanan 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Buchanan, Erwin, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 16, with family and friends. The party was held at the home of David and Julie Pryputniewicz, Johnson City. The couple married March 23, 1963, in Burnsville, N.C. Mr. Buchanan is retired from Eastman. Mrs. Buchanan, the former Shirley Smith, retired from Erwin Health Care, where she worked as a beautician. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan attend Fishery Community Church. They both enjoy traveling and spending time with their family. They are the parents of Tim Buchanan, Benton, Ark., Jeff Buchanan, Gainesvile, Ga., and Julie Pryputniewicz, Johnson City. They have six grandchildren, Wes and Hayley Buchanan, Lila and Lydia Buchanan, and Edwin and Vincent Pryputniewicz.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Huskins Celebrate 50th

Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Huskins, Erwin, celebrated their 50th anniversary on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013. The couple were married in Burnesville, N.C., on Feb. 18, 1963. Mr. Huskins retired from General Motors, Lordtown, Ohio, after 30 years of service. He enjoys restoring vintage vehicles and visiting with family and friends. Mrs. Huskins, the former Sonja Letterman, was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She enjoys reading, visiting friends, and attending Southside Free Will Baptist Church, where they are both embers. They are the parents of Tommy Huskins, Youngstown, Ohio, Keith Huskins, Carthage, N.C., and Cathy Stracher, Youngstown, Ohio. The couple also has 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Kristen, Shane, Ricky, Jessica, Christopher, Robert, Donna, Steven and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, Addison, Brantly and Porter.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bennett

Lester and Helen Bennett, Fresno, Calif., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 20. A celebration was held Aug. 22 at the home of Gilbert and Lara Contreras. They were married Aug. 20, 1960. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bennett are retired. They are the parents of Leslie Williams, Fresno, Calif.; Hal Bennett, Boynton Beach, Fla.; and Dana Peal, Shelly Carrillo and Lara Contreras, all of Fresno. They have several grandchildren: Brian Bennett, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Tyler Williams, Raymond Contreras, Helena Contreras, Jacob Carrillo and Sebastian Carrillo, all of Fresno. The couple also have one great-granddaughter on the way.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Saunders

Raymond and Helen Saunders of Flag Pond will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 23, 2010. A special celebration honoring the couple will be held Saturday, July 17, from 12:30-4 p.m. at Jennie Moore Memorial Presbyterian Church, 284 Jennie Moore Road, Flag Pond. The Saunders were married Aug. 23, 1950. Mr. Saunders is a retired Presbyterian minister, and Mrs. Saunders is the former Helen Gentry. They are the parents of Joyce (Mike) Wymer of Rock City, Ill., Judi Ann (Pete) Deszcz of Plainfield, Ill., and Bonnie Rae (Brian) Letton of Pecatonica, Ill. They have several grandchildren: Jason Rupnow, Tim (Katie) Rupnow, Sarah Rupnow, Ted (Kara) Rupnow, Todd Rupnow, Angie (Justin) Wech, Linsey Wymer, Tim Wymer; Ed Deszcz, André Deszcz; Wai-Yee Letton and Grace Letton. And their foster grandchildren are Jason, Tiffany and Brett. They also have two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Ashley Rupnow. The Saunders request no gifts.

Mr. and Mrs. Terry Williams

Terry and Jane Ann Williams, Johnson City, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip with family and friends. They were married March 21, 1970, at Keystone Free Will Baptist Church in Johnson City. The fathers of the bride and groom, the Revs. Roy Cooper and Arvil Williams, officiated. Mr. Williams has been employed by the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home, for 25 years. He is the son of Fredna Williams and the late Rev. Arvil Williams. Mrs. Williams is employed by J&B Distributing. She is the daughter of the Rev. Roy and Edna Cooper. They are members of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, Erwin. The church was founded the year Mr. Williams was born, and he has been singing in the choir all his life. Mrs. Williams has been the church pianist for the past 38 years. She is also very involved with the Ladies Auxiliary. The couple have one daughter, Terri Ann White, and one grandson, Noah Trivette.
