To the editor,As a cherished cornerstone of our community, the Unicoi County Family YMCA has long been a beacon of health, wellness, and communal spirit. However, our beloved YMCA pool is in desperate need of repairs to continue serving our community effectively.Over the years, the YMCA has played an integral role in shaping countless individual's lives, both young and old. One of its most vital contributions to the community has been through the swimming pool. It has been a place where children have learned the invaluable skill of swimming, instilling in them not only a sense of confidence, but also potentially saving lives.The YMCA offers a myriad of activities aimed at promoting health and wellness. From swimming lessons to lifeguard courses, a well-equipped weight room, and local children's sports activities, it serves as an essential hub for our community. Without the YMCA pool we are in jeopardy of losing the fostering of healthy lifestyles and community connections.The repairs and remodeling are expensive but necessary, and the future of our YMCA pool hangs in the balance. The pool at the YMCA is the only indoor pool in Unicoi County. We must not let this invaluable resource disappear from our community.We must join together as a community of neighbors and friends to ensure future generations enjoy the countless benefits and opportunities that we grew to love and appreciate.
