Writer has Erwin, Asheville in his thoughts, prayers

To the editor,I'm writing to the decent, honorable and patriotic people of Erwin, Tennessee.Oh, my soul! What a devastating storm! Unimaginable! Mind-boggling!I was born and raised in Erwin. I lived in Chestoa, Unaka Springs and River Hill section of Erwin. I've seen the Nolichucky River overrun its boundaries many times. But wow! Nothing of this magnitude! I want everyone to know: You are in my thoughts and prayers.My friends, if God can close the mouths of the lions for Daniel, part the water for Moses, make the sun stand still for Joshua, open the prison doors for Peter, put a baby in the arms of Sarah and raise Lazarus from the dead, then He can certainly take care of you. Nothing you're facing today is too hard for Him to handle. I believe all that, and still think in situations like this, have we angered God, by not following his instructions and putting Him first! Just saying!I have to praise my grammar school teachers, that taught me at Love Chapel School. I'm sure you know. I don't remember a single school shooting when I was a kid. What I do remember is our teacher having us all begin the day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, reading from the Bible and praying. And, we had the 10 Commandments on the schoolhouse wall. Maybe getting rid of all those things wasn't such a good idea, after all. But what say you?I worked a few years at the Unaka Store, with two gentlemen, Harold and Leroy Tapp. I wonder if anyone in Erwin remembers Leroy's daughter, Doris Jean? I know she used to live in Asheville, North Carolina. I know, too, that Asheville was also devastated. It looks like on TV that Asheville was hit much harder than Erwin. Both places have suffered enormously! Please God have mercy on the fine folks of Erwin and Asheville.I would deeply appreciate it, if someone in Erwin would help me to get in contact with Doris Jean Tapp. It's been said, "The most wonderful places to be in the world are in someone's thoughts, in someone's prayers and in someone's heart."Well, today and every day, since the awful and terrible storm made its appearance, all the decent, honorable and patriotic people of Erwin and Asheville have been in my thoughts and prayers.
