CSAC offering free tai chi classes through February

Just a reminder that tai chi classes are free for the months of January and February. Come try out this class that will help you improve balance and strengthen your core. Here are some other upcoming highlights to check out: Beginner Sewing ClassIt's never too late to join our sewing class at 9 a.m. every Friday throughout January. Come learn something new or brush up on your skills. Show & TellShow & Tell returns at 9 a.m. on Jan. 21. Bring something meaningful to share with the group — an item, a memory or a story. It's a wonderful way for us to learn more about one another. Swap ShopSwap Shop is back at 10 a.m. on Jan. 21. If you've got yard sale items lying around the house bring them to our Swap Shop and trade them for something "new to you." It's simple, fun and a great way to declutter. Cozy Movie DayJoin us in the TV room for a relaxing movie day with snacks and good company. Sometimes the simplest moments are the best. Volunteer OpportunitiesIf you are looking for a way to volunteer, we could really use you for Meals on Wheels. The coordinator needs a driver to deliver meals during weekdays for our Unicoi route. The commitment would be from 10:30 a.m. to noon with no previous delivery experience needed. Training will be provided for comfort learning the route and fulfilling the needs of those who receive meals. For more information or to inquire about volunteering, call Carol Custer, our meal coordinator, at (423) 330-6904. MembershipAnyone 50 or older can join the center for only $25 a year! We also are partnered with United Healthcare and Humana to possibly offer a free membership. Just bring your photo ID and your insurance card and one of our staff can check on eligibility. Veterans Food TruckThis is a free food service open to vets, spouses of vets, widows and widowers. The truck distributes at noon every second Tuesday of the month. You can start lining up at 11:30 a.m.Veteran ServicesWe have an onsite veterans service officer who can help explain benefits and service questions. He is here on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday and, by appointment, on Saturday.
