TWRA announces trout stocking dates for Erwin parks

Trout stocking will return to Unicoi County this spring, with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency scheduling multiple rainbow trout releases in Erwin. The 2025–26 winter rainbow trout stocking program is continuing statewide through February, with spring stocking officially beginning March 1, according to a press release from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. TWRA says these stockings are designed to provide close-to-home fishing opportunities while encouraging families, children and first-time anglers to take part. In Unicoi County, TWRA reports that Fishery Park Pond in Erwin is scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout on Feb. 15, March 1 and March 15. Clark Creek is scheduled for spring stockings on March 1, March 15, March 29, April 12, April 26, May 10 and May 24, according to the release. TWRA says more than 40 locations across Tennessee are included in this year's winter and spring trout stocking program. Many of those locations are in or near urban areas and feature amenities such as walking trails, playgrounds and pavilions, making them accessible destinations for families and new anglers. The agency says stocked trout will average about 10 inches in length. The daily creel limit is seven trout, with a reduced limit of five at locations participating in the Community Lakes Fishing Program. TWRA says there is no size limit for harvested trout, but anglers must have a valid trout license in addition to a Tennessee fishing license. TWRA notes that stocking dates and locations are subject to change and encourages anglers to check for updates on its website.
