Governor's Bend resident Louise Stone celebrates 100th birthday

Governor's Bend Assisted Living in Erwin recently celebrated a remarkable milestone as resident Louise Stone marked her 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends, fellow residents and staff members. The special occasion was filled with laughter, love and cherished memories as Stone welcomed family members who traveled from out of state to celebrate with her. The birthday celebration featured a beautiful cake, plenty of presents and a heartwarming surprise of more than 100 birthday cards from well-wishers. Governor's Bend honored its centenarian with flowers and a special birthday banner featuring her photograph, making the day even more memorable. Her birthday was especially meaningful because she has been a part of the Governor's Bend family for nearly as long as the community has existed. Having moved in shortly after the grand opening, she has witnessed 14 years of growth, change and countless memories within the community. "I've been here 14 years, and I love all the activities I do here," she said. "It's been a blessing." When asked about her greatest accomplishments over the past 100 years, Stone reflected on what matters most to her: "Raising a good family, teaching and following God." She also shared the values that have guided her life, saying that she "cherishes her family and the Lord and has had a wonderful life." For younger generations, Stone offered simple but meaningful advice: "Love the Lord and obey your parents, and be kind to others." As Stone celebrates a century of life, she remains grateful for the many blessings she has experienced and looks forward to many more years spent with her family, friends and the people who love her.
