CSAC to offer class on relaxation techniques on July 9

I would like to recognize our volunteers this week. The activities that we have for our members are made possible by our volunteers and sponsors. Without the help of our local businesses and healthcare facilities, the seniors would not get to enjoy things like bingo prizes, crafting, Lunch and Learns, fitness classes, and trips driven by our volunteer drivers. We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate everyone who has participated in the activities at the center. You make it possible for the seniors to enjoy their time here. You are so valuable! This week is packed full of activities to try. Come down to the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center on Thursday for a new class focused on relaxation techniques for seniors with teacher Janet Moore. Don't forget about bingo on Friday and Monday. We also have the Veterans Food Truck coming on Tuesday, July 14, with a free food distribution for veterans and spouses of vets. There's so much going. Our Meals on Wheels Coordinator is looking for a weekday driver to volunteer for the Unicoi route from 10:30 a.m. to noon. No experience is required; training is provided so drivers feel confident with the route and comfortable serving the seniors who depend on these meals. We're not a healthcare or assisted‑living facility. We are a community hub focused on activities, wellness, and relationships. Membership is just $25 a year, and some insurance plans (United Healthcare and Humana) may cover your membership at no cost. Bring your photo ID and insurance card, and our staff can check for you. Membership Perks • Bingo: A member favorite, we thank our generous business and healthcare sponsors.• Day Trips: Ride our bus for shopping, dining, educational outings and recreational adventures.• Fitness Room: Treadmills, NuStep, bicycles, strength equipment, free weights, yoga mats and more.• Blood Pressure Clinic: Free checks every Monday at 9 a.m. with Diane Banks.• Drums Alive: A fun, music-based fitness class led by certified instructor Lisa Wright.• Circuit Aerobics: Cardio with bands, weights, and balls. Class is chair-friendly and adaptable for all mobility levels. At 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.• Tai chi: Improve balance with Bob Hechemovich's gentle, guided movements on Fridays.• Congregate Meals: Daily lunch for ages 60 and older with a suggested $3 donation. Sign up three days in advance.• Arts & Crafts Room: A fully stocked creative space open to all members.• Library: Take a book/return a book for easy reading.• Billiards: A newly renovated room with morning play and a women's team at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.• Computer Lab: New computers available during operating hours; printing is 25 cents per page.• Veteran Services: An onsite Veterans Service Officer is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. He is available on Saturdays by appointment.• Veterans Food Truck: Free food for veterans, spouses, widows and widowers on the second Tuesday of each month at noon. At 11:30 a.m., participants can start to line up for the distribution. This month's food truck will visit on June 14.
