CSAC to host Creation Station Crafting Fair on Aug. 12

So glad to see many of you attending the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center's fitness classes and enjoying our Fitness Center. The amenities at the center really do make it worth spending that $25 a year for membership. It is my hope that someone will be flipping through the newspaper and stumble across our weekly column. Maybe that person is you, and you have been giving some thought into joining. Wait no longer, now is the time. We have so many things to do here. If you are not interested in the trips, activities, free lunches, health presentations and many classes, you can just come to observe. Maybe plan to spend the day, attend one major activity and stay for lunch. Just give it a try and see how you like it. There is one thing you can be sure of when you come. You will be greeted with kindness, and the other seniors will be interested in you. Everyone here is so friendly and warm. When someone is having a bad day, I watch how they all comfort one another to help that person. We also have some good news for your health and your wallet. Beginning in August, all tai chi classes will now be free. You can begin your first class at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 7. No signing up required. Just simply show up to the class and our instructor Bob Hechemovich will teach what you need to do. This class will develop strength in your core and help growth in the mind, body and soul. We look forward to seeing new members come by. It's a simple and easy process to join. Come by and talk to one of our front desk staff and they will guide you through the joining process. We also have our website clinchfieldseniors.com Our Meals on Wheels coordinator is looking for a weekday driver to volunteer for the Unicoi route from 10:30 a.m. to noon. No experience is required; training is provided so drivers feel confident with the route and comfortable serving the seniors who depend on these meals. For details or to volunteer, call Meal Coordinator Carol Custer at (423) 330-6904. I also want to mention the provision of a free meal while you're visiting our center. Meals on Wheels, a government-funded program, offers congregate meals here at the center. All you have to do is siyn up two or three days ahead of time and a meal will be set aside for you to come and enjoy at 11 a.m. This comes in handy when you're planning on staying at the center for the day or for an activity around the lunch hour. If you're 50 or older and looking for friends, fitness and fun, our center is the perfect place to connect. We're not a healthcare or assisted living facility. We are a community hub focused on activities, wellness, and relationships. Membership is just $25 a year, and some insurance plans (United Healthcare and Humana) may cover your membership at no cost. Bring your photo ID and insurance card, and our staff can check for you. Be sure to stop by and pick up our monthly calendar.
