Bowling trip, lunch at Raising Cane's set for Aug. 21

Hello everyone! It is my hope that you are having a wonderful week. We have some fun things coming up here at the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center and I invite you to enjoy them. We will meet Aug. 18 for an activity called "Remember When." To take part, simply bring in old photos of yourself to share with others. I think it will be a fun experience to see how we have changed through the years and share our life story. We will be going on a bowling trip on August. 21 – the bus leaves at 9:30 a.m. from the center. We are almost full on the bus, but you are welcome to follow us there in your own vehicle. We will play two games and then eat at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. It is my hope that we will have a few new faces to join us. Lately, I have really been reminiscing about the past and asking myself what I would do differently. This inspired me to write a poem that I believe we all can relate to. Through The YearsTime is fleeting, I look and seeI am not the same as I used to be. A new facial line showed up todayI'm sure under this dye my hair is totally gray.I pause to ponder about the years while I stare into my reflection,I ask if I would have done it differently or with a little more perfection. I guess if I'm being honest, I would have savored every minute, And realized that life's too short and one day it will hit it's limit. But overall, I am sure that I did the best I could,For life is such a beautiful treasure from every situation that I have stood. We also have our website clinchfieldseniors.com Our Meals on Wheels coordinator is looking for a weekday driver to volunteer for the Unicoi route from 10:30 a.m. to noon. No experience is required; training is provided so drivers feel confident with the route and comfortable serving the seniors who depend on these meals. For details or to volunteer, call Meal Coordinator Carol Custer at (423) 330-6904. I also want to mention the provision of a free meal while you're visiting our center. Meals on Wheels, a government-funded program, offers congregate meals here at the center. All you have to do is siyn up two or three days ahead of time and a meal will be set aside for you to come and enjoy at 11 a.m. This comes in handy when you're planning on staying at the center for the day or for an activity around the lunch hour. If you're 50 or older and looking for friends, fitness and fun, our center is the perfect place to connect. We're not a healthcare or assisted living facility. We are a community hub focused on activities, wellness, and relationships. Membership is just $25 a year, and some insurance plans (United Healthcare and Humana) may cover your membership at no cost. Bring your photo ID and insurance card, and our staff can check for you. Be sure to stop by and pick up our monthly calendar.
